High school students from the city of Detroit, Metro Detroit and across the country each wrote a story during our virtual and in-person camps led by Detroit Writing Room and New York Writing Room coaches. The students explored how schools and students are coping with the pandemic and how local businesses and nonprofits are bouncing back. Others covered topics that touched close to home such as death, Islamophobia and Asian hate crimes. Each student wrote a story they thought was important to tell.

Perspectives also features the photography by Detroit high school students who participated in Coaching Detroit Forward’s Photography Camp.

All proceeds support our 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm Coaching Detroit Forward which offers opportunities for Detroit high school students to attend our journalism and photography camps for free.
