Poet and Voiceover Artist Katie Elizabeth Chonacas

Today’s Writer Wednesday features Detroit native Katie Elizabeth Chonacas, who splits her time between Los Angeles and New York City!

Katie is a globally outstanding Greek-American actor with over two decades of experience in the Hollywood entertainment industry. Katie works as a professional voiceover actor specializing in cartoon animation voices with her branded name Cartoon Katie. She brought to life characters such as Soup from Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 and Georgia as Nancy Drew’s best friend. Katie is an NFT artist and author who published the first “love poem” on the blockchain, along with the original polaroids from artist Robert Sturman.

Her poetry book, “A Lover's Fairytale,” was composed between 2004 and 2012 as a reflection of her experiences while traveling across the world. It aspires to empower you through art's words, allowing you to adapt, transform, and improve your own life.

What writing projects are you currently working on?

I am currently focused on publishing my second poetry book titled “thee actor” My Greatest Love thus Far.

Also, I have been writing and exploring AI poetry for the last six months and have incorporated it as a new medium. 

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

When I get into a flow state and I feel the source taking over and I observe the story unfolding. 

What does your writing workspace look like?

I have many workspaces because I travel a lot, but I always make sure it’s a clean desk.  

I like having nothing around but silence, a pad of paper and pen.  

What is your favorite non-writing hobby?

I love painting and doodling. 

What is your favorite piece of writing advice?

When a thought comes up to write just pick up the pen or the electronics and start writing. It does not matter what it is or how it will look, it’s that intuitive hit that is our gift which I’ve ignored many times so it’s a practice to not ignore the gift and to honour the inner voice and write.
